• Be Still is a new American fable of systemic and familial abuse often called protection. By using strong reference to separatist puritanical colonies these photographs sit out of time, but hope to draw attention to present day hypocrisy and hyperreligiosity.

While being the majority, some claim persecution while inflicting the violence they claim to be receiving. These people perform atrocities in the attempt to wash away the perceived sins of others. Individuals living within these insular communities are faced with an impossible choice. Be silent and complicit, or speak up and be ostracized. The fearfully quiet are both part of and apart from the culture into which they were born.
